Join us for an intimate, living-room concert featuring one of Hindustani classical music’s most exciting young voices. Bring your full attention — the sarod rewards it. A rare chance to sit just feet from a master-in-the-making and hear every nuance of a raga unfold in real time, in the warmth of a private home.

The Artist

Hailing from Kolkata, Swarnendu Mandal brings the sarod — the fretless, deep-toned lute whose polished steel fingerboard makes its singing glides possible — to life with a rare combination of technical precision and lyrical sensitivity. A disciple of the late Padmabhushan Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta and of Ustad Abir Hussain, he carries forward the Senia–Shahjahanpur gharana, a lineage prized for its purity of tone and deeply melodic approach to raga. Still in his twenties, Swarnendu has performed at the G20 Summit (2023) in Varanasi and the ITC Sangeet Sammelan, toured Europe, and holds the CCRT National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Why This Is Special

The sarod’s fretless steel fingerboard enables meend — gliding, microtonal shifts central to the deep, meditative style of the Senia Shahjahanpur tradition. No stage, no barriers: just the natural resonance of the instrument in a quiet room. Capacity is strictly limited to preserve an intimate, personal connection between the performer and the room.
